About Alumni

Government Degree College, Uravakonda was established in 1980, a number of alumni got education from this reputed institution. Though this institution is located in rural area, it has a great contribution in the educational development of the rural students. Many alumni of this college are well known in their respective fields i.e. Politics, Education, Sports, Agriculture, Business and Industry, Social Work and Public Speaking. The college provides an opportunity to the alumni to interact and share their experience with junior students by arranging alumni meetings every year in the college. Our Alumni Association works for the overall development of students as well as the institution. It helps our institution not just financially, but in terms of academic planning, placements of students, career guidance and technological guidance.

Our Alumni Association organizes:

  • Guest lectures on various subjects and guidance from the experts of various domains to the students.
  • Some of our alumni are industrialists; they provide internships as part of MoUs and share their knowledge and expertise with the students.
  • Alumni Association organizes educational and industrial visits for the students.
  • A significant number of our alumni are always visiting our college and they impart their experience to students by arranging motivational lectures.
  • Alumni Association provides information about the career opportunities available in their fields.
  • Our Alumni Association provides research orientation the students by helping them in completion of their community service projects.

Financial Support:

Our Alumni Association supports the Institute financially by means of donating generously for the infrastructural development of the College. Recently, Commerce Building was constructed by an NGO (Rural Develop Trust) worth of Rs.1.48 Crore of which a matching grant of Rs. 50,0000/- was donated by local people who were motivated by alumni association.

For the last few years the association played a crucial role during the most important quality sustaining and quality acquiring moments of the college. The members of the alumni association gave a representation to the Principal to start new courses in UG and on their request, new courses B. Sc Statistics and BZC were introduced. A drinking water connection worth of Rs.45000/-was provided by alumni of 1997-2000 and 2010-2013 batches during the academic year 2021-22. In one of the meetings, the alumni association decided to provide the competitive books worth of Rs.25000/- to enhance job opportunities. It also instituted endowment prizes to develop competitive spirit in academics. Apart from the above said monetary help, the alumni extended their services by delivering guest lecturers, motivational lecturers and career guidance class for their juniors. The alumni helped the admission team whenever the team visited their concerned villages in identifying the eligible students. They also motivated the students to join the college to pursue higher education in the college. Apart from the periodic regular activities like creating awareness about different aspects of academic social life, environment, legal awareness, the association also plans and implements welfare measures for the students.
