RED RIBBON CLUB (RRC)
The Government Degree College, Uravakonda has a Red Ribbon Club maintain by Zoology Department. It focused on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting safe practices among the young minds. It regularly conducts awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS like campaigns, Rallies, Blood Donation Camps, Blood Grouping, promoting of Safe Practices, Peer Education, Counselling etc. It also collaborates with healthcare institutions, government agencies, and NGOs to coordinate efforts to fight against HIV/AIDS. RRC revolve around the HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention, and support, while its functions encompass various activities and initiatives aimed at achieving its objectives and reducing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic among youth and communities.
Objectives
· Raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, Its transmission, prevention, and the importance of safe behaviour among youth.
· To reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
· Raise awareness about policies and programmes related to HIV/AIDS prevention and care, influencing government initiatives and community support.
· To promotes voluntary blood donation to ensure a safe and adequate supply of blood while emphasizing the importance of HIV testing for donated blood.
