The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1992 as one of the subjects at the degree level with Physics and Chemistry combination. Statistics is introduced in the college in the year 2006 as one of the subjects in U.G with Mathematics, Statistics & Computer Science mathematics, physics and Computer science combination. The Department consists of a versatile combination of senior experienced faculty and active young faculty. Mathematics is the parent subject for Physical Sciences and it’s like a backbone for technological advancement in today’s world. Therefore great care is taken to explain the subject matter in such a way that, even an average student is able to understand it. The learning process is conducted in a manner which interest students and open their minds to exploration in the subject. The Department also aims to instill in each student a capability to solve meaningful problems in the service of humanity.

Mission:

The mission of the mathematics department is to provide an environment where students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical application. Moreover, the department will contribute to the development of students as mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in their chosen professions, and to function as productive citizens.
