Government Degree College, Uravakonda

The College has at present the strength of nearly 800 above and most of the hail from rural areas. It is one of the biggest affiliated Colleges in Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur. The college lion’s share of participation in Inter Collegiate and Inter University Games & Sports and has won many medals and champion ships to its credit. It sends every year nearly 60 – 80 players (Men & Women) represent the S.K University Inter Collegiate Tournaments and nearly 12 to 15 players for Inter University Tournaments & All India Inter University Tournaments of Inter University Every year. And received many participate certificates, winner, runner Certificates and medals. The Department regularly conducting practice of Games and Sports and Gym Training in the College Playground and College Gym during evening times at 4.00pm to 5.00pm for women students and 4.00pm to 6.30pm for men students.

From the academic year 2014-2015 to up to this academic year 2022-23 the college Kho-Kho Team continuously receiving Winners Championship in Inter Collegiate Tournaments conducted by Sri Krishna Devaraya University, Ananthapuram. And also, for the academic years 2018-19 & 2019-20 the Hand Ball and Ball Badminton team stands Runners in Inter Collegiate Tournaments conducted by Sri Krishna Devaraya University, Ananthapuram. This is the great success of the Department of Physical Education, Government Degree College, Uravakonda.

This reputed college is the source of robust youth with bubbling enthusiasm for games and sports. It has 9.5 acres of huge playground. It is a center of attraction for the lovers of games & sports. The students of this college are widely known for their merit in games and sports besides academic excellence.
The Physical Education Activities offer an eye feast from dawn to dusk with ever green presence of players, athletes and outside joggers. As the infrastructure facilities are meager, the players, students, youth and other fail to utilize the opportunities to the optimum level especially lack of indoor stadium, 400mts tracks, football, cricket field and other related equipment.
